Torsion Spring Replacement

Torsion springs serve the important function of balancing the garage door by applying torque to the shaft with drums at each end. The torsion spring unwinds and winds as the door is opened and closed to comprise a balanced system. As with any system that involves tension, working with the torsion springs can be very dangerous if you have not been properly trained to install and uninstall them.

Depending on the size and weight of the garage door, there can be up to 4 Torsion Springs to provide the right balance. As the torsion springs wear out with age and use, it is necessary to replace them to ensure that the door functions properly. If one breaks, it will most likely be necessary to replace the others to ensure that there is a proper balance to both sides of the door.
